USFA Tools
FSTAR is one of several homes for fire service research. Another is the U.S. Fire Administration Library, located on the campus of the National Emergency Training Center (NETC) in Emmitsburg, Md. The Library has one of the most comprehensive collections of materials in the United States for both fire and emergency-management research.
Search the Library’s significant catalogue, which includes over 120,000 journal articles from the past 30 years. The Library also houses the applied research papers produced by graduates of the Executive Fire Officer Program.
Check out these web-based resources offered by the Library:
- All-Hazards Articles Alert: A digest of recent, relevant articles from scholarly, professional and trade journals.
- Library Guides: A wealth of resources to help you understand how to find and use research in your own presentations and academic work. See in particular a guide on the research process, scholarly literature and the APA Citation Style.
- Model Practices in Fire Prevention: A collection of innovative fire-prevention programs with measurable impact and outcome measures that are selected through the biennial Vision 20/20 Model Performance Symposium.
